Vet HQ offers key hole surgery. Key hole surgery otherwise known as Minimal invasive surgery is indicated for surgery of the abdomen of animals where instead of making a 5- 10 cm and sometimes much more we can often perform the same surgery using 2-3 small 0.5cm incision. The advantages of minimal invasive surgery are rapid patient recovery and diagnostic accuracy. There is also little to no postoperative discomfort. We will also be performing several techniques laparoscopically assisted once again reducing the size of the incisions sometimes by more than 70%. At this stage we will not be performing joint or arthroscopic procedures. But stay tuned I have no doubt we will end up there in the not too distant future.

Vet HQ also offers Endoscopy, a procedure using a camera to look into the interior of a hollow organ or cavity of the body. Unlike most other medical imaging devices, endoscopes are inserted directly into the organ. Endoscopes can be rigid or flexible. We use a fibre-optic light source to illuminate the scope which enables us to visualise inside the body.

At Vet HQ we have used endoscopy for diagnostic biopsy of the stomach, intestine, rectum, nose and ear. We have removed foreign bodies from the esophagus, stomach and ear. We have used the scope to wash out the nose and remove tumors from that area.

We have two scopes at Vet HQ a 5mm flexiable scope used for the nose and stomach/intestines in a small dog and cat. We also have a 9.8mm flexible scope for intestinal biopsy in all animals.

Should the need arise we will talk to you about all the various options we have available to treat your pets.
