Vet HQ Wins Outstanding Specialised Business at the 2026 Local Business Awards

On Monday 11 May, Vet HQ proudly received the Outstanding Specialised Business award at the Local Business Awards for the Sydney City Suburbs, a remarkable achievement that reflects two decades of dedication, innovation and unwavering commitment to exceptional veterinary care.

Representing Vet HQ on the night was our founder and visionary, Dr Geoff, his wife, Tammy, whose support has been instrumental since the very beginning, Kate our longserving People & Culture Manager, who has been an integral part of Vet HQ for 16 of its 20 years and Heads of Departments from our Nursing, Customer Service and Grooming Teams.

A Milestone Built on 20 Years of Heart and Hard Work

In his acceptance speech, Geoff reflected on the humble early days of Vet HQ. When he and Tammy first opened the doors, their biggest decision was whether they could afford to employ a single nurse. Today, Vet HQ has grown into a thriving team of 60 dedicated staff, each contributing to the culture, care and community spirit that define the practice today.

This award is not just a recognition of excellence in veterinary care. It is a celebration of every member of the Vet HQ team over the past 20 years. From long days in the clinic to meaningful community initiatives, from pioneering clinical standards to nurturing the next generation of veterinary professionals, the team has continually risen to every challenge, consistently striving for excellence. From the clinical teams to client care, from leadership to support staff, this win represents years of passion, commitment, resilience and shared purpose.

A Celebration of Community and Connection

While the trophy may sit on our shelf, this win also belongs to our entire community. Vet HQ’s success has always been rooted in strong relationships, the clients who trust us with their beloved pets, the families who have grown with us, and the local partners who support our mission. This award recognises not only excellence in veterinary care but also the trust and connection built over two decades.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate this milestone, Vet HQ remains focused on the future: continuing to innovate, to nurture our team, and to provide the highest standard of care to every pet who walks through our doors. With 60 staff, a strong leadership team and a community that inspires us daily, the next chapter promises to be just as extraordinary as the last.

FAQs for our Vet HQ family

How do I know which Vet HQ clinic to visit - Darlinghurst or Double Bay?

Both clinics offer the same standard of care, shared medical records and a collaborative team. Many clients choose the location closest to home, while others visit a specific vet they love. If you are unsure, our team can guide you to the clinic that best suits your pet’s needs.

Can Vet HQ help if my pet needs urgent attention?

Yes. We can often see urgent cases on the same day at either our Darlinghurst or Double Bay clinic. If the situation is critical, call us right away and our team will advise the safest next step and prepare for your arrival.

What makes Vet HQ different from other vets in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs?

We combine warm, relationship-based care with advanced diagnostics, gold-standard cat facilities and a Fear Free approach. Many of our vets and nurses have been with us for years, providing genuine continuity and a familiar, trusted team for your pet.

Do you look after pets from outside Darlinghurst and Double Bay?

Absolutely. Many families travel to us from Surry Hills, Paddington, Bondi, Woollahra and across the Eastern Suburbs because they value consistent care and our wide range of services under one roof.

What should I expect during my pet’s first visit to Vet HQ?

You’ll meet a friendly team who takes time to listen, understand your concerns and get to know your pet’s personality. We explain everything clearly, discuss options and create a plan that suits your pet’s health and your family’s routine.

How do I book an appointment with Vet HQ, and what information should I have ready?

You can book online or call our Darlinghurst or Double Bay clinic. It helps to have your pet’s name, species, age, any current medications, and a brief summary of what you’ve noticed. If you have recent test results or notes from another vet, bring them along so we can get up to speed quickly.
