Last Saturday, the full Vet HQ team from both clinics came together for our annual dedicated Staff Training Day. This year was built around one central theme: Communication. Linked to one of our core values it was a full day designed to strengthen our skills, deepen our understanding of one another, and reinforce the high standard of care we deliver every day whilst having some fun along the way.
The morning kicked off with an energising and insightful DISC profiling workshop facilitated by Tania Gover and Tracey Strazzeri from Crampton Consulting Group. Through interactive activities and guided discussion, our team explored the different communication styles and behaviour tendencies that shape how we work, collaborate, and support each other. Understanding these styles helps us communicate with greater clarity and empathy both within the clinic and with the clients who trust us with their pets.
We then welcomed IDEXX ,our key laboratory and pathology partner, for an important session on the value of senior pet blood panels as a preventative health measure. The presentation highlighted how early detection can significantly improve outcomes for ageing pets and offered practical strategies for reinforcing these benefits during client conversations. This knowledge empowers our team to better advocate for proactive care and support pet owners in making informed decisions.
After a delicious lunch from local eatery Michael’s, we were ready for an afternoon nap… or rather a fun, handson teambuilding experience iBuild. Through creative challenges and collaborative problemsolving, our staff strengthened trust, communication, and teamwork, all essential ingredients for a thriving clinic environment.
One of the most valuable parts of the day was simply having our entire team together, stepping away from the daily pace of the clinic to reconnect, learn, and grow. At Vet HQ, we believe that investing in our people is the foundation of exceptional patient care. Days like this give us the space to reflect, strengthen our communication, and evolve as a unified team and enable us to serve our clients and their pets with even greater confidence, compassion, and consistency, ultimately creating A Better life for You and Your Pet.
Days like this are made possible by the generous support and expertise of our key partners:
Their commitment to professional development helps us continue delivering exceptional care to our patients and outstanding service to our community year after year. Thank you!

Yes. We can often see urgent cases on the same day at either our Darlinghurst or Double Bay clinic. If the situation is critical, call us right away and our team will advise the safest next step and prepare for your arrival.
We combine warm, relationship-based care with advanced diagnostics, gold-standard cat facilities and a Fear Free approach. Many of our vets and nurses have been with us for years, providing genuine continuity and a familiar, trusted team for your pet.
Absolutely. Many families travel to us from Surry Hills, Paddington, Bondi, Woollahra and across the Eastern Suburbs because they value consistent care and our wide range of services under one roof.
You’ll meet a friendly team who takes time to listen, understand your concerns and get to know your pet’s personality. We explain everything clearly, discuss options and create a plan that suits your pet’s health and your family’s routine.
You can book online or call our Darlinghurst or Double Bay clinic. It helps to have your pet’s name, species, age, any current medications, and a brief summary of what you’ve noticed. If you have recent test results or notes from another vet, bring them along so we can get up to speed quickly.
