Our surgical team performs dozens of procedures weekly, from routine desexing and mass removals to complex abdominal surgeries and urgent interventions. Every case receives the same meticulous attention, including a thorough pre-operative health assessment, modern anaesthesia with continuous monitoring, precise surgical technique, and comprehensive pain management.
We explain everything clearly before surgery, keep you informed during procedures, and provide detailed aftercare instructions that set you up for successful recovery. Your pet’s safety and comfort drive every decision we make.
We’re open 7 days a week until 7 pm at both Darlinghurst and Double Bay, enabling us to handle urgent surgical cases during these hours. Our

We close at 7 pm daily. For after-hours emergencies or cases requiring overnight intensive monitoring, we coordinate transfer to nearby emergency veterinary services. This ensures your pet receives appropriate 24-hour monitoring and critical care when medically necessary.
We don’t have staff on-site overnight. Stable post-operative patients go home the same day or next morning with pain medication and detailed instructions. Patients requiring overnight monitoring are transferred to emergency centres equipped for continuous care.
Modern anaesthesia protocols, advanced monitoring equipment, and experienced surgical nurses work together to minimise risk. We use:
Our surgical nurses have worked together for years—many have been with us for over a decade. This team cohesion matters enormously. When everyone knows their role and trusts one another, surgeries run smoothly and pets recover more comfortably.
Surgical outcomes depend on multiple factors:
We discuss realistic expectations before surgery, explaining what success looks like for your pet’s specific procedure. Not every surgical patient returns to perfect function, but most experience significant improvement in comfort and quality of life.
Complications occasionally occur: infection, wound dehiscence, bleeding, or anaesthetic reactions. When they do, we manage them. You won’t navigate these problems alone.
For minor complications, such as seroma formation or superficial wound issues, we guide management over the phone or schedule brief rechecks for patients. For significant complications, we schedule immediate reassessment and provide necessary intervention or arrange external specialist consultation when appropriate.
Surgery affects the whole family. From your first consultation through discharge and recovery, you work with the same team that genuinely cares about outcomes. We provide honest surgical risk assessment, transparent cost estimates, and realistic recovery expectations.
If surgery isn’t the best option, we’ll be honest with you and discuss alternatives.

Best Vet Clinic! Oh My Gosh, I owe these guys everything, if it wasn’t for this clinic, I wouldn’t have my WylieCat anymore.
My cat fell out a window, 6 storeys down to concrete, & although he didn’t break bones, he broke his insides, especially his liver. The dedication of care…
Thank you to Jess and the team for looking after our Winnie. Always take extra care and attention. Jess truely listens and takes consideration. Appreciate it.
We had a seriously wonderful experience here. The team is so friendly, thorough in their explanations for their care, and knowledgeable. I so appreciate a doctor taking the time to educate me as an owner; there’s no better feeling than being an informed decision maker and owner. Our golden retriever, Leo, had the best care…

Soft tissue surgery includes all procedures not involving bones or joints: abdominal surgery, mass removals, urinary procedures, reconstructive surgery, and emergency interventions. We perform these procedures daily at both Darlinghurst and Double Bay, serving pets from across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs including Paddington, Surry Hills, Rose Bay, Woollahra, and Bondi Junction.
We’re open until 7pm, 7 days a week. We handle urgent surgical cases during these hours. For after-hours emergencies (after 7pm), we coordinate transfer to nearby 24-hour emergency veterinary services. For critical cases like bloat, internal bleeding, or urinary obstruction presenting during our hours, we respond immediately.
Age alone doesn’t prevent surgery. We carefully assess senior pets through pre-operative blood work and physical examination, then adjust anaesthetic protocols based on their health status. Many older pets undergo successful procedures that dramatically improve quality of life. We discuss specific risks honestly for your individual pet’s situation.
Most pets go home the same day or next morning with pain medication, activity restrictions, and detailed aftercare instructions. We schedule follow-up appointments to monitor healing and remove sutures (typically 10-14 days post-surgery). Recovery duration varies by procedure—simple mass removals heal quickly, while abdominal surgeries require more rest time. We provide clear, realistic recovery timelines for your pet’s specific surgery.
Not every lump requires removal, but all should be assessed. We perform fine needle aspirates to determine whether masses are benign, potentially problematic, or clearly malignant. Location, growth rate, and cell type guide recommendations. Some lumps need immediate removal. Others can be monitored with regular measurement. Book an examination so we can advise on your pet’s specific situation.
Continuity and familiarity. You work with the same veterinarians throughout your pet’s surgical journey – veterinarians who already know your pet’s medical history, temperament, and specific needs – no navigating unfamiliar external specialist centres. No need to see different vets at each appointment. Your pet receives advanced surgical care from the team they already trust, in the environment where they’re already comfortable.
