Pottsi & Friends – Changing one animal’s life at a time

In just a few short months, Pottsi & Friends has become one of the most uplifting forces in our local animal welfare community and Vet HQ is proud to stand alongside them as a committed partner in their mission.

Founded at the start of 2026 by Sharon Rice, Pottsi & Friends set out with a simple but powerful goal: to bring together community volunteers, local businesses and rescue groups to change one animal’s life at a time. What began as a grassroots idea has quickly grown into a movement that is transforming the lives of rescue pets across the area.

Vet HQ has supported Pottsi & Friends from the beginning, helping amplify their initiatives and connecting clients and community members with meaningful ways to give back. Together, the partnership has strengthened the bridge between everyday pet lovers and the rescue organisations that rely on community generosity.

One of Pottsi & Friends’ most successful initiatives has been their ongoing donation run. Through the generosity of local families, they have collected an incredible:

  • 1,652+ pre loved and new items, including collars, leads, harnesses and toys
  • Over 2,000 kg of pet food for rescue pets in need

These donations go directly to rescue groups, easing the financial burden on foster carers and ensuring animals receive the comfort and care they deserve. If you would like to donate you can drop off at either Vet HQ clinic and we will arrange collection.

But perhaps the most imaginative initiative so far is the Pottsi & Friends Deck of Cards Project. Community members were invited to feature their pet’s photo on one of the 52 cards by donating $100 to provide a three month tick and flea treatment to a rescue pet. The finished decks are then sold as a fundraiser to continue supporting local rescue pets. A creative blend of art, community spirit and practical support for animals in care.

The momentum continues with two major events on the horizon:

  • Pottsi & Friends & Vet HQ 70’s Cocktail Party Fundraiser – 26 August A night of celebration, connection and community generosity, all in support of rescue pets.
  • Participation in Flynn’s Walk An important event raising awareness for mental health in the veterinary industry, a cause close to the hearts of both Vet HQ and Pottsi & Friends.

For more information about these two events follow @pottsiandfriends @vethq and @vethqdarlinghurst.

In just a few months, Pottsi & Friends has demonstrated what’s possible when a community rallies behind a shared purpose, ensuring that rescue pets receive not only essential supplies but also the compassion and dignity they deserve.

This is only the beginning. With continued community support, Pottsi & Friends is poised to change thousands more lives , one wagging tail, one full bowl and one act of kindness at a time

FAQs for our Vet HQ family

How do I know which Vet HQ clinic to visit - Darlinghurst or Double Bay?

Both clinics offer the same standard of care, shared medical records and a collaborative team. Many clients choose the location closest to home, while others visit a specific vet they love. If you are unsure, our team can guide you to the clinic that best suits your pet’s needs.

Can Vet HQ help if my pet needs urgent attention?

Yes. We can often see urgent cases on the same day at either our Darlinghurst or Double Bay clinic. If the situation is critical, call us right away and our team will advise the safest next step and prepare for your arrival.

What makes Vet HQ different from other vets in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs?

We combine warm, relationship-based care with advanced diagnostics, gold-standard cat facilities and a Fear Free approach. Many of our vets and nurses have been with us for years, providing genuine continuity and a familiar, trusted team for your pet.

Do you look after pets from outside Darlinghurst and Double Bay?

Absolutely. Many families travel to us from Surry Hills, Paddington, Bondi, Woollahra and across the Eastern Suburbs because they value consistent care and our wide range of services under one roof.

What should I expect during my pet’s first visit to Vet HQ?

You’ll meet a friendly team who takes time to listen, understand your concerns and get to know your pet’s personality. We explain everything clearly, discuss options and create a plan that suits your pet’s health and your family’s routine.

How do I book an appointment with Vet HQ, and what information should I have ready?

You can book online or call our Darlinghurst or Double Bay clinic. It helps to have your pet’s name, species, age, any current medications, and a brief summary of what you’ve noticed. If you have recent test results or notes from another vet, bring them along so we can get up to speed quickly.
