Mable came into Vet HQ because she had been coughing and snorting for a couple of weeks.

We performed an endoscopy where we place a camera into her mouth and then direct it above the soft palate so that we can view the back of the nostrils as shown by the blue line in the picture.

Below is the image we saw on the scope. The pink/red part is the tissue of the nostrils. Can you guess what the black foreign material is?

What if we told you that Mable has started to chew on pine cones?

While Mable was chewing on a pine cone, a piece has broken off and shot up the back of her soft palate and was sitting behind the nostrils. If you look at the previous image of where the endoscope path is (dark blue line), that is also the path that the pine cone piece took and has been siting for 2 weeks.

We managed to get it out from there and Mable has made a full recovery.
