How Lulu was blessed with the best of both worlds..

Lulu or Louis …. That is the Question?

Lulu presented to me at 12 weeks of age. She was sold as a female but the owners were concerned as when she urinated the urine flow was directed towards her front feet.

On examination she had external genitalia that were neither male nor female. She was not nearly as concerned as mum and dad were. Lulu was considered to be a hermaphrodite where due to a congenital mix up there are both male and female gonads and the external signs could be either.

At 6 months of age we went ahead and desexed her not knowing what to expect. Amazingly she had a uterus formed normally with a body and 2 horns that lead directly to what appeared to the naked eye as testicles.

Lulu has made a complete recovery and I expect her to live a normal life. Mum and Dad have taken to calling her Lu and dressing her in pink. They are going to let her make her own mind up if she wants to be a boy or a girl when she grows up a little bit.
