A Life of Light
Today I washed your still-full water bowl, a task I didn’t choose
Your mother took care of the litter tray you never failed to use.
We think of you, talk to you, as we did for so long
You responded, as always, with a pure purr like a song.
We know you are here, we see you everywhere
You are on our laps, in your favourite sunny chair.
You ran up stairs, across rooms, and always sough the sun
You never asked for anything we wouldn’t give. It was fun.
Whenever we came home you greeted us at the door
When we wanted something from you, you always gave us more.
We lived together as families should, in peace and without interruption
We motored far afield, you remained quiet, never causing disruption.
