Meet The Staff
Veterinarians-
Geoff Golovsky, Caryn Wun, Tammy Poon, Kirsten Hunt and Illana Mendels
Geoff Golovsky
Vet HQ has been a dream of mine for many years. Growing up here in the Eastern Suburbs it soon became apparent that there was only one place to set up my dream, right here in the heart of Double Bay .
On Boxing Day 2006 we opened our doors for the first time. We struggled with the decision of employing two nurses or just one.Three and a half years on we know have 14 full time employee’s and a group of casual part time nurses and animal attendants. We have two other full time vets and one part timer. I am proud of what has been created and I look forward to seeing you at Vet HQ.
About me,
I graduated with honours from Sydney University in 1998. My first job was in mixed animal practice on the South Coast of NSW. Since then I have been back in Sydney , Working in Thailand at the University of Khon Kaen on an AUSAID/AYAD development program and in London for 2 years. I spent three years on my return at North Shore Veterinary Hospital ( Specialist Hospital and Emergency Centre) refining skills to be able to accomplish my Memberships in Small Animal Medicine.
I have a keen area of interest in Surgery of all shapes and sizes. However my passion as most of you know is my general practice talking with people (often too much) and having a laugh. I aim to provide you all through myself and my team with the best standard of veterinary practice and to be that integral link between yourself and your pet.
I hope to see you all soon.
Geoff
Caryn Wun
Hi, my name is Caryn Wun.
I have been a vet for 21 years. I started my career in mixed practice working with dogs, cats, horses, farm animals and wildlife on the Mid North Coast of NSW and in the United Kingdom. For the past 15 years I have been exclusively a Small Animal Veterinarian in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. I have a particular interest in internal medicine, disease processes and treatment; successfully completing two post graduate courses through the University of Sydney. I am also interested in animal behaviour.
I am in love with my gorgeous Maltese terrier cross, ‘Marlo’ and enjoy being entertained by the antics of my deaf cat, ‘Moo’. I look forward to meeting all the Vet HQ clients and their pets.
Tammy Poon
Hi, my name is Tammy Poon,
I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2010. I have worked in the animal industry for the last 8 years
– including volunteer work at Taronga Zoo and nursing in a clinic on the lower north shore. Whilst I enjoy all aspects of
veterinary practice, my keen interests are in dermatology and surgery. I am the proud owner (read: slave) to a lovely beagle Coco and a rescued cat Kiki who keep me entertained on my time off from VetHQ.

I am the proud owner of two moggies called ‘Fattie’ and ‘Harley’ who take over my house.
Hi my name is Sonja Marksteiner,
I have been crazy about animals for as long as I can remember, preferring the company of furry little creatures over most other things. I have come to my dream job here at Vet HQ via a few detours (various other jobs) and love being part of the veterinary nursing team. I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in January 2009 and am looking forward to a long career in animal care. I am owned by a lovely Tortie called ‘Friddles’ who has been queen of the castle for the last fourteen years.

Meet the Animal Attendants
Fie Hedam Mortensen
Hannah Bartlett
Hi, My name is Fie Hedam Mortensen,
I am originally from Denmark but have been living in Sydney for the last four years. I have worked
as a horse trainer in various stables back in Denmark and here in Sydney and very much enjoy working in Dog Day Care. I have just started my course in Veterinary Nursing and am looking forward to being part of the nursing team here at Vet HQ.
Meet The Groomers
Bianca Bennett
Esther Rice-Clarke
Hi, my name is Bianca Bennett. I have been grooming since 1999 and had my own grooming business in Wollongong for almost 10 years. I also helped out at a couple of grooming salons in Sydney from time to time. Even though I love my profession I wanted to do more than just grooming so thought that working at a vet would be ideal. I hold a certificate IV in companion animal services and I am now an animal attendant as well as a groomer, which is really fun and helps me learn more about dog behaviour. In the future I would love to study more about animal behaviour.
Hi my name is EstherRice-Clarke.
I am one of the groomers at Vet HQ. I have been grooming for 3 years and have also worked in dog kennels for one year. I have wanted to work with animals my whole life and love my job here at Vet HQ. I have just started my vet nursing course this year and also aim to do an advanced grooming course in the
near future to further improve my skills.
